One in ten gamblers plans to wager more on the Cheltenham Festival than last year. An extensive survey of British gamblers was conducted by Online Betting Guide and YouGov. It seems that some people might be keeping extra cash to wager on big events where they might get more bang.

The survey was conducted by affiliate site OLBG and included over 1,000 gamblers from across the country. It aimed to examine the betting habits of people who wager.

As horse racing’s largest week approaches, the Cheltenham Festival arrives this week, there are signs that people are making changes to their routines.

When asked how much they plan to gamble in 2023, 7 percent responded that they will gamble more than they did the previous 12 month.

The majority (69%) say they will continue to stake the same amount as before, with 10% saying they would be less risky this year.

Cheltenham is the most popular week in horse racing. British punters will not be restrained when it comes time to stake their money.

Just over half of those surveyed said they didn’t wager on the Festival last year, and that they don’t intend to do so this year. This shows how important this event is for regular gamblers.

6 percent of those who did not bet last year said they plan to participate this year, and change their old habits.

One-fifth of those who have placed bets on Cheltenham races for 2022 said that they plan to spend more money in 2022.

London has a ratio of more than four to one, with 26 percent planning to spend more. This is more than the Midlands where it drops to 3%. 23% of people plan to keep the same level of spending, while only 9% suggest they will cut back on their spending and place a lower amount.

More than half of Londoners plan to gamble more in 2023 (22%) The highest percentages of people who plan to spend more in the country are those aged between 18-24 and 25-24.

Richard Moffat, spokesperson for OLBG, stated that “some gamblers are preparing to spend more or betting on Cheltenham this year when they haven’t before.”
