Federation Francaise de Tennis (FFT), announced that the Roland-Garros eSeries By BNP Paribas – which is the biggest eTennis event in the world – will be returning for its sixth year. The tournament, which is returning for its sixth consecutive year, will be played on Tennis Clash, the most downloaded mobile tennis game in the world, by Wildlife Studios. This follows a shift to mobile esports formats in 2022. FFT has over 120 million downloads of the mobile game. Last year, 238,000 players from 207 countries participated in the eTennis tournament.
“We are delighted to announce details of FFT’s 2023 competition. We have made the 2023 competition even more fun and engaging, building on our previous successful partnership. We are proud to be part of the Roland-Garros ESeries by BNP Paribas and we want to provide our players with the best content, experiences, and the opportunity to compete at Roland-Garros. This is a dream come true to any tennis fan around the world,” Dotan Arad (General Manager of Tennis Clash) said.
Eight finalists will compete in the Grand Final at Roland-Garros on Friday, May 26, with qualifiers competing for a part of the EUR5K prizepool. Seven of the eight final places will be given to players who have qualified from different events. The eighth qualifying spot will be awarded to William Foster, who won the 2022 Australian Open Tennis Clash virtual event and also the 2022 Roland-Garros eSeries By BNP Paribas.
Roland-Garros eSeries will expand its partnership with Women in Games – an international charity that makes gaming more accessible for women – and establish a new collaboration to Handigamers – a French charity that allows people with limited mobility to play videogames. These two organizations will host closed qualifying events, where the winners will participate in a one month remote training program facilitated by Team MCES (French esport organization). This will be ahead of the Grand Final.
All eight finalists will have the opportunity to attend an FFT esports workshop ahead of the Grand Final. This will ensure that every participant is ready to perform on matchday. FFT is dedicated to making gaming accessible for everyone. It is proud to be among the few organizations that encourage higher participation in all levels of its competitive environment.
FFT will welcome back BNP Paribas, the presenting partner, and Renault, the official partner for the sixth and second consecutive years. They have helped elevate eTennis to a sport, and resulted in an increase in top-level eTennis tournaments around the globe.
