The ICE Landmark Awards, which will be presented in the ICE Lounge on February 8th, 16.00 – 17.00, will honour some of the most influential people in the industry and the best-known commercial organizations.
Ernie Stevens Jr., Chairman and National Spokesperson for the Indian Gaming Association (IGA), is the Landmark recipient. His leadership during Covid allowed Tribal Gaming to be protected and preserved. He also secured the crucial funding necessary to keep Tribal Casinos solvent in the face of the pandemic.
Ernie Stevens will be joined by Roy Student, a US industry veteran who over a 50-year period founded and was President both Gaming Systems International (formerly Cyberview Technology) and Cyberview Technology.
European-based Landmarks recipients include Per Jaldung, who is the Chair of the European Casino Association and David Snook, a veteran journalist who first reported on the exhibition in 1968, when it was known as ATEI.
Jimmy Thomas, who died on July 30, 2022 at 88 years old, is the recipient of the posthumous Lifetime Achievement Award. Jimmy Thomas was an innovator, pioneer and philanthropist who changed the landscape of the UK’s gambling industry. Simon Thomas, Executive Chairman of The Hippodrome Casino, will accept the ICE Landmark to honour his father.
Five commercial organizations will also be recognized. Les Ambassadeurs, in recognition of their groundbreaking efforts in corporate philanthropy/community engagement, will be awarded a Landmark. Betson Group, which is celebrating 60 years of existence, TCS John Huxley (50th Anniversary), Continent 8 (25) and Nanocosmos (25) will all be presented with an ICE Landmark.
Before the presentation Stuart Hunter, Clarion Gaming‘s Managing Director, stated that the Landmark Awards are an acknowledgement of the extraordinary achievements made by individuals and organizations in this industry. Many of the innovative initiatives, game-changing products, and influential personalities who have shaped this industry have strong connections to ICE and its predecessor ATEI. I’m delighted that the show continues playing such an important role in helping to create opportunity for global businesses.
