Mind Sports South Africa, founded in 1984, was the first national federation of Board games, Card games and Esports.
MSSA promotes the various disciplines in an equal manner, but each school can choose which discipline they wish to promote. Some schools promote all the disciplines, while others focus on just one.
It is up to the school whether they choose to accept or reject a student.
Many South African students have unique opportunities thanks to the various games. Many South African learners have earned Regional, Provincial and National Colours, which has allowed them to receive bursaries or obtain a first-class education.
MSSA has been sending teams in full Protea colours to international events for over 20 years. The national teams are made up of many scholars who have all benefited from being part of the Protea Team.
With this in mind, the MSSA has simplified the process for school to become an affiliate of the MSSA.
A school can still start a fully-fledged sub-club in its premises. However, due to the strict regulatory conditions that accredited Schools must operate under in the Republic, MSSA does not consider it necessary for a School start a sub club.
If the school has approved the club and it has an Educator in Charge, then a school can affiliate with MSSA by simply completing and submitting the Application for Affiliate Form.
To affiliate with the MSSA, you must submit the completed Application for Affiliate form.
After the Board approves a School for affiliation the school must complete the Google Registration Page assigned to it and pay the fee.
All members of the school can participate in any event for which they qualify. These events can include courses, meetings, championships and more.
