Virgin Bet announces the second edition of the ‘Women’s Day’ at the Virgin Bet November Handicap, taking place on Saturday 9th November at Doncaster Racecourse.
Virgin Bet will use the day to highlight women’s contributions to racing. This is just one of Virgin Bet’s many social impact initiatives that aim to create a more welcoming environment.
Building on the success and the first Women’s Day celebration at Ayr Racecourse in the last racing season, the aim of this celebration is to highlight the contributions made by women in the sport.
Virgin Bet’s ‘A Good Bet” brand mission is embodied in the event at Doncaster Racecourse, which is open to all. This campaign highlights the brand’s commitment to breaking down barriers in sports and culture.
The first panel will begin at 10:45 in the Exhibition Hall. These discussions, which combine celebration and insight, will spark reflection and conversation. They will connect racing fans with legendary females who have transformed horse racing, while also addressing issues of diversity in the sport.
The panel will consist of:
Panel 2: Women of Horse Racing
- Sophie Green (Trainee Clerk, Southwell Racecourse).
- Charlotte Russel (General Manager, Go Racing In Yorkshire)
- Rachel Harwood, Executive Director of Doncaster Racecourse
Panel 2: Inclusion in Racing
- Dawn Goodfellow, CEO of Racing Welfare
- Emma Kay (Founder, WalkSafe)
Virgin Bet will also donate to Racing Welfare as part of its raceday sponsorship. They ensure the success and well-being of British horseracing workers. Virgin Bet’s sponsorship of Racing Welfare shows the importance Virgin Bet places on giving back to those who keep the industry going.
Virgin Bet November Handicap is the start of Virgin Bet’s partnership with Arena Racing Company for a number of key meetings during the 2024/25 racing season. This partnership also extends to LiveScore Bet, a brand of the LiveScore Group.
Virgin Bet’s Personal Safety partner, WalkSafe will be also integrated into the race. WalkSafe, founded in 2020, was created to provide the public with as much information as possible about their surroundings. WalkSafe+ is an app that allows users to find the best route to home. It also has a number of other features designed to make everyone’s experience safer.
The racegoers can learn more about this innovative app, which is free to download, during the day of the event. They will also have the opportunity to talk to its founder Emma Kay, whose daily mission it is to educate people and to highlight the importance and necessity of safety. Emma will be a panelist on the raceday, where she will share her experiences and insights.
This second version of Women’s Day is now debuting at Doncaster and serves as an alternative to the traditional Ladies’ Day. Virgin Bet in partnership with Doncaster Racecourse is proud to foster a celebration-oriented environment and remind everyone that racing welcomes everyone.
Dominic Vye said that Virgin Bet’s Marketing Director Dominic Vye:
It’s time to celebrate the achievements of the women behind the scenes who have contributed so much to horse racing. Virgin Bet wants to highlight the brilliance of all sportspeople and make them more accessible. This initiative fits in with our “A Good Bet” brand campaign.
